Vietnamese cuisine takes off in Sydney

Vietnamese food innovator Summerrolls has been named Sydney’s Best Vietnamese by independent local newspaper, The City News. The result is part of a readership survey that attracted over 10,000 votes, according to the newspaper.

Summerrolls founder Minh Nguyen says that the recognition is a testament to how far Vietnamese food has come in its two-decade history in Sydney. “No longer do you have to risk wandering the backstreets of Cabramatta to find good Vietnamese street food,” he said. “You can now get premium-quality Vietnamese at a reasonable price right in the heart of the city.”

Located in the Foodbase on Park food court, Summerrolls serves modern rice paper rolls, pho noodle soup, gourmet Vietnamese baguettes and Asian salads. Last month they received recognition as a Finalist in the Sydney Business Awards 2008 and State Finalist in the Small Business Champion Awards for NSW and ACT.
