Lenard’s strengthens ties with Metcash

Lenard’s, Australia’s largest specialty meat retailers, has reported an agreement with Metcash to expand throughout IGA Supermarkets nationally. The agreement builds on the success of Lenard’s outlets in IGA shopping centres since a deal was made between Ritchies IGA and Lenard’s in 2000.

Lenard’s founder, Lenard Poulter, is adamant the alliance offers potential for both companies, as it gets Lenard’s into a high flow shopping area and presents a point of difference for IGA supermarkets. “IGA Supermarkets are an exciting growth avenue for the Lenard’s brand and this partnership will provide IGA with a solid point of difference by offering customers a popular and well known product range not available in their competitors’ supermarkets,” he suggested.

The deal will involve an expansion of the Lenard’s brand throughout IGA Supermarkets beyond Drakes Foodland, Cornetts IGA and Ritchies IGA outlets – where they are currently in operation.
