Cadbury is studying the possible launch of a “cocoa house” concept that would see it establish branded outlets that compete with high street coffee shops in the UK.

The company, which was recently acquired by US food giant Kraft Foods, told just-food that it has entered into discussions with unnamed third parties on the creation of its first cocoa house outlet.

A spokesperson for the group remained coy on the details of Cadbury’s plans, which he said remain in the early stages.

“This is still very much at the design concept and we have not confirmed either the style of the outlet nor indeed where and how many there might be,” the spokesperson said.

However, the spokesperson did insist that the “exciting development” has the backing of Kraft.
