SBS to launch food magazine
National broadcaster SBS is getting set to launch its own periodic magazine for the first time. The premium glossy magazine is based on SBS food television programs, with the inaugural issue due to be released in the first half of 2011.
The magazine is currently in the early stages of development while the SBS consider proposals from multiple publishing companies.
SBS national manager of content sales & distribution Sharon Ramsay-Luck confirmed the broadcaster’s plans, but declined to comment on which publishers SBS has met with.
“A magazine is the next logical extension to SBS’ consumer products program,” she said.
“Given the depth and success of our food content, particularly on the TV and online platforms, we’ve decided to pursue this genre as our first ongoing magazine venture.”
