Woolworths recalls salmonella almonds
Woolworths has recalled its own-brand 750g bags of almonds “due to the potential presence of Salmonella”, effective immediately, in a product recall issued just before Easter.
Bags of almonds with a best before date of 10/11/11 and 11/11/11 are being recalled, having been sold in Woolworths, Safeway and Food for Less supermarkets across Australia between 15 and 21 April.
Exactly how many of the almond bags are affected has not been released, nor how the contamination was discovered, but customers have been warned not to eat the product and seek medical advice if concerned about their health.
Purchased products can be returned to the point of sale for a full refund. No other products are affected by this recall. The recall was issued on 21 April, not 18 March as listed on the Woolworths website, and customers can contact the company’s hotline on 1800 103 515 for further information.

My husband and I have been consuming large amounts of almonds bought from either Woolworths or Coles for a number of years. I was not aware of the almond recall until I went to purchase a bag 2 days ago at Coles, Bondi Junction, when I was told they told could not sell the product due to a recall but were unable to tell me what the recall was about. I shop at my local woolworths in Rockdale every week and have not come across warnings there. Where have these customer warnings been?
