Australian-based global winemaking and distribution business Treasury Wine Estates Limited, formerly owned by Australian brewer Foster’s Group Limited, today announced first year profits of A$64.4 million. The Coca-Cola Company and its Chinese bottling partners today announced a new investment of US$4 billion over the next three years, commencing 2012. CSIRO invests $1.2 million in making infant formulas more nutritional

Leading Australian scientists based at the CSIRO are working with the Australian ingredients manufacturer, Clover Corporation Limited, to improve the nutritional content of infant formulas. Australian Food Standard baulks on raw milk products

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) is consulting the general public on whether permission should be given for raw milk (non-pasteurised) products to be sold in Australia. FSANZ is calling for public comment on its Proposal P1007, looking at permissions for raw milk products to be sold in Australia. The State of Tasmania is seeking to maintain import restrictions on New Zealand apples. The move comes despite the fact that regulator Biosecurity Australia yesterday gave the green light to the importation of New Zealand apples into Australia.
