Campbell Brothers expands food-testing operations in Europe
One of Australia’s largest manufacturers, Campbell Brothers, which also provides analytical laboratory services, has expanded its food-testing operations by buying two companies in Britain and Ireland for AU$39 million.
Campbell Brothers, which has been listed on the Australian Securities Exchange since 1952, has acquired the Eclipse Scientific Group and Advanced Micro Services (AMS) businesses from Environmental Scientifics Group.
UK-based Eclipse provides food, dairy, water and pharmaceutical testing services to a blue chop customer base comprising manufacturers, food processors and retailers. AMS is an Ireland-based laboratory group providing similar services.
Campbell Brothers’ Managing Director, Greg Kilmister said, “The acquisition will provide us with an opportunity to expand our existing food services into new geographies in the UK and Ireland.
“The food testing facilities in the UK and Ireland will allow us to accelerate the development of a global food and pharmaceutical testing business and help build our overall presence in Europe,” he added.
