Dairy and meat winners announced at the Royal Melbourne Show
The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) has announced its fine food winners, with Red Hill Cheese taking out the Best Victorian Product award.
Red Hill Cheese’s “Mountain Goat Blue” beat 33 other award winners in all categories from Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia. Red Hill Cheese were also the winners of the champion Sheep, Goat and Buffalo cheese titles.
The announcement of Red Hill Cheese’s win comes as a honourable achievement for VIC as there has been so much hype over the cheese industry in Tasmania of recent. Australian food news reported earlier in the week about foreign investors from China taking great interest in the TAS dairy industry.
Awards were presented for champion large beef producer and champion small lamb producer, as well as awards for excellence in the delicatessen category including champion delicatessen, champion smallgoods and champion uncooked sausage.
Tasmania took out a number of dairy titles during the awards. The dairy and meat section winners of the annual Royal Melbourne Show Fine Food Awards include the following:
