US premium iced tea brand launches in Australia
Australian food distributor Stuart Alexander, in partnership with beverage business Dr Pepper Snapple Group (DPS), has launched US premium iced tea Snapple Iced Tea in Australia.
Snapple, a brand of Dr Pepper Snapple Group, was founded in 1972 by three childhood friends in Greenwich Village, New York and is now available throughout the US. Snapple develops, produces and markets a wide variety of premium beverages, including ready-to-drink iced teas, juice drinks, 100 per cent juices and water. DPS is a leading producer of flavoured beverages, marketing Snapple and 50-plus other brands across North America and the Caribbean.
With more than 50 beverage brands throughout North America and a growing global presence, this first foray into the Australian market is just the beginning of DPS’ expansion plans. DPS appointed Stuart Alexander the exclusive marketing and distribution partner for Snapple in Australia.
Stuart Alexander said Snapple Iced Tea was “well suited” to the Australian market, and is made with “real green and black tea leaves and delivered in a bespoke 473ml glass bottle”. Snapple Iced Tea will launch with four flavours: Peach, Lemon, Raspberry and Green Tea.
“We’re really excited to be launching Snapple in Australia, giving Aussies the chance to experience the US number one premium iced tea brand,” said Mark Barr, General Manager, Stuart Alexander. “Welcoming Snapple into our beverage portfolio complements our existing business and strengthens our growing premium beverage portfolio,” he said.
“New brands are successfully adding value to the iced tea category and the Snapple launch offers that incentive for would be stockists,” Mr Barr said. “Major retailers have already seized the opportunity to make this the summer of iced tea,” he said.
Snapple will be offering consumer sampling experiences in-store nationally as well as roaming samplers in city hot spots. Snapple is available now in Woolworths supermarkets, before hitting shelves in other grocery and convenience stores in October 2014.
