Kellogg’s launches Pop-Tarts ice cream sandwiches in Australia
Global breakfast food manufacturer Kellogg’s has launched Pop-Tart ice cream sandwiches in Australia, in collaboration with a Sydney pastry chef Andy Bowden.
Established in 1924, Kellogg’s is one of the world’s largest cereal companies, and its brand portfolio includes Kellogg’s, Be Natural, Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, Rice Bubbles, Nutri-Grain, Special K, All-Bran, Sultana Bran, Coco Pops and Pringles.
Mr Bowden, who is known in Sydney’s food scene for his cakes and soft serves, created two Pop-Tarts ice cream sandwich recipes that can be recreated at home. For a limited time in January 2015 and February 2015, Mr Bowden will also be dishing up two Pop-Tarts inspired soft serves at his Sydney restaurant Hartsyard.
“Aussies definitely have a soft spot for dessert and there’s a big nostalgic trend happening right now,” Mr Bowden said. “I like to reflect on my own childhood memories when I’m creating a recipe and make something epic and over the top, which is what I’ve done with Pop-Tarts ice cream sandwiches. The recipes will look and taste decadent – I like people to eat with their eyes before their mouth,” he said.
“The key is to keep it interesting and I’ve created recipes which highlight some of my favourite flavour combinations,” Mr Bowden said. “For example, salted white chocolate ice cream with coconut jam sandwiched between Strawberry Sensation Flavour Pop-Tarts,” he said.
“Then there’s fresh banana ice cream with dark chocolate ganache, potato chips and dark chocolate caramel sauce sandwiched between Chocotastic Pop-Tarts,” Mr Bowden said.
Pop-Tarts caravan takes to the road in Sydney
Kellogg’s has also created a Pop-Tarts caravan, which will set up at several Sydney locations to promote the Pop-Tarts ice cream sandwiches.
The caravan will serve Frosted Chocotastic Pop-Tarts ice cream sandwich and Frosted Strawberry Sensation Flavour Pop-Tarts ice cream sandwich, which are both served with vanilla ice cream. Consumers will be able to pay for the ice cream sandwiches by following the Pop-Tarts Instagram social media account and uploading a photo of their ice cream sandwich with the hashtag #CrazyGood.
“Pop-Tarts are going to delight people throughout summer with the Pop Tarts caravan tour and our delicious Pop- Tarts ice cream sandwiches,” said Marcela Diaz, Brand Manager for Pop-Tarts.
