Aspen Nutritionals S-26 Gold Toddler and S-26 Gold Junior infant formula will now be manufactured in Australia.

S-26 Gold Newborn and S-26 Gold Progress infant formula will be made in New Zealand.

S-26 Gold was formally owned by Nestle but was acquired by Aspen Nutritionals in 2013. Aspen Nutritionals is part of the Australian division of Africa’s largest drug company, Aspen Pharmacare. Aspen Pharmacare Australia is responsible for a number of branded products sold in Australian pharmacies and supermarkets including Bio-Oil, Gastro-Stop, Gastrogel and Dermeze.

Manufacturing is being brought to Australia at a time when demand for Australian infant formula is at an all-time high due to its perceived quality and safety.

In November 2015 Australian parents took to social media in uproar when supplies of Bellamy’s Organic and A2Milk branded infant formula products were running low.

Blame for the shortage was placed consumers bulk-buying the formula to re-sell as part of China’s biggest annual online shopping event, ‘Singles Day’.

Aspen says it is bringing its production back from overseas in an effort to build brand trust. Patricia Demopoulos of Aspen Nutritionals Australia the company wants to build reassurance amongst its customers.

“By locally manufacturing the S-26 GOLD core range, we are committed to giving Australian mums the reassurance that the product they know and love comes from a source they trust,”  Demopoulos said.

The relocation will be supported by a new marketing campaign that will play out across TV, digital, print, point-of-sale and social media.
