There is enormous pressure on food product suppliers and retailers to present products as natural as possible.

Label space is also a scarce resource. This workshop reveals many opportunities in existing food labelling laws.

This FoodLegal workshop, held both in Sydney and Melbourne, focuses on the food labelling obligations under the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code but takes you even further, exploring how these can be navigated to present the cleanest version of your product. Of course, without misleading or deceiving your consumers in breach of the Australian Consumer Law.

The intensive workshop helps participants answer:

»» What are the tips for simplifying a long ingredients list?
»» When can an ingredient be left off the label?
»» What makes an additive or other substance “natural” or “not artificial”?
»» When does a food substance become a food additive? Or processing aid? Or nutritive substance?
»» What is the most appropriate technological function for a particular substance?
»» How can you use the 5% rule to your advantage?
»» When do you need to declare Genetically Modified ingredients?
»» How can you achieve a clean label without breaching the Australian Consumer Law?
