Victorian brewery White Rabbit has taken out Champion Australian Beer at the 2017 Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA).

Champion International Beer was awarded to California-based brewery, Firestone Walker, for its ‘Feral One’ beer.

The Australian International Beer Awards is the largest annual beer competition in the world judging both draught and packaged beer. The awards have been running for 25 year and are administrated through The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria.

The 2017 awards received 1, 890 entries which were judged by 80 local and international judges.

Head Judge, Brendan Varis, said judging took place over three days at the Melbourne Showgrounds.

“As always the standard of beer entered was exceptional with the gold medal and trophy wining beers representing the absolute pinnacle of beer quality from around the globe,” he said.
