Mitre 10 acquisition strengthens Metcash against Coles and Woolworths
Metcash, which supplies IGA supermarkets, has completed its acquisition of 100 per cent ownership of hardware chain, Mitre 10. Following the plans announced last month, Metcash said it would raise up to $375 million by issuing new shares to bankroll growth opportunities. Metcash paid approximately $46.5 million to move from 50.1 per cent of ownership to 100 per cent ownership of Mitre 10.
