SPC Ardmona’s Managing Director has resigned to pursue other interests after almost nine years in the job. Nigel Garrard, who took up the position of MD at the fruit processing company in 2000, will continue his career as the Managing Director of packaging company Amcor Australasia. Australian packaging giant Amcor has reported net profit for the first half fell 29.5 per cent on write-downs and the negative impact of currency changes. Amcor has announced today that it will build a third glass furnace at its wine bottle plant in Gawler, South Australia.The new furnace, which is expected to cost $150 million, is due for completion during the first half of calendar 2010. Upon completion, the site will have three furnaces with an annual capacity of 600 million wine bottles.
