Federal Court fines poultry producer $100,000 over ‘free to roam’ claim

One of Australia’s largest poultry producers, Turi Foods, has been ordered by the Federal Court of Australia, to pay AU$100,000 penalty after admitting to a misleading claim. In September 2011, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) instituted proceedings in the Federal Court against Turi Foods, which supplies La Ionica brand meat chickens in New South Wales and Victoria. Not just coffee, Starbucks introduces beer and wine selectively into its US stores

The world’s largest coffee chain, Starbucks Coffee Company, announced today plans to introduce wine, beer and “premium food” to a handful of its stores in the United States by the end of 2012. EU Parliament calls for food wastage regulatory review by Member States

South Australian food production at record high

Food production revenue for the State of South Australia in 2010-2011 increased by almost a quarter from the previous year, achieving a record AU$13.7 billion in food industry revenue.
