Sydney restaurant Tetsuya’s has again been named best restaurant in Australia at an awards ceremony in London overnight, where a list of the World’s Best 50 restaurants was announced. The Restaurant 09 Melbourne trade show is moving to new dates in June to better suit the market and attract more international chefs. It will now run from 17-18 June 2009 at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. Tokyo has solidified its reputation as a gastronomic capital, after again receiving more Michelin stars than any other city. The Michelin guide to Tokyo was released overnight, with the Japanese capital increasing their number of coveted stars to 227 spread across 173 restaurants – an increase of 36 stars and 23 restaurants on last year. Forbes has released a list showcasing the ten leading celebrity chefs by earnings per year, with a number of unfamiliar names to Australians popping up.
