KFC removes ‘free to roam’ claims from Australian website

Major fast food chain KFC has removed claims that it sources chickens that are ‘free to roam’ from its Australian website. The move comes days after the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) accused Baiada Poultry Pty Ltd and Bartter Enterprises Pty Ltd, both of which supply chickens to KFC in Australia, of making misleading promotional claims to sell their chicken products. KFC Australia removes toys from children’s meals

KFC Australia will no longer provide toys with its childrenʼs meals. The fast food chain says the move will encourage its customers to make “more responsible food choices”. Yum! reports strong grilled chicken and Australian sales

Yum! Brands, the woner of the KFC and Pizza Hut franchises – has reported operating profit growth of 11% in the second quarter after stripping out the negative impact of currency translation, with Australia again a strong region for the company. The growth was led by international development, with 328 new restaurants opening outside the US and sales growth in the mid-single digits.
