Australian government list for ‘Chemicals of Security Concern’ may impact food industry

Companies have been invited to make submissions on a ‘Draft National Code of Practice for Chemicals of Security Concern’ published by the Attorney-General’s Department. As part of the Australian government’s anti-terrorism measures, the Draft Code seeks to regulate the usage of eleven particular chemicals. Cameras to keep Coles happy but farmers disgruntled

In light of the recent public footage of questionable abattoir practices within Australia, Coles have suggested CCTV cameras may be the way of the future for its farmer suppliers. If the recommended approach is proceeded with farmers may soon see the addition of surveillance cameras in their dairy and sheep sheds if they want to continue supplying produce to Coles. McDonalds targeted in armed robberies

Three McDonalds outlets in south-east Melbourne have been targeted by armed robbers this week, leaving employees concerned for their safety and some stores closing earlier than usual. McDonalds in the suburbs of Keysborough, Lynbrook were attacked by two men wielding a machete and an axe on Monday night, and then the Cranbourne outlet was hit by the same men, with a third accomplice, on Wednesday night.
