Wal-Mart to cut plastic bag use by 33 per cent

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., the world’s largest retailer, has joined the growing list of retailers pledging to lower their plastic bag use. The US-based company has committed to reducing its global plastic shopping bag waste by an average of 33 per cent per store by 2013. Disgruntled former Coles employee accused of bomb plan

A former Coles employee has been accused of planning to use home made explosives in a Coles supermarket in Sydney. The accused, 54 year-old Andre Nord, was arrested on Saturday following the discovery of chemicals and explosives at his Woolahra unit after fire fighters were called to the scene of a fire at his place. Milk levy to be abolished, prices to fall 11c per litre

The Rudd Government is seeking to abolish an 11 cents per litre levy on fresh milk, with legislation introduced to Federal Parliament yesterday. The levy was established by the Howard Government in 2000 to fund an adjustment package for the dairy industry as it moved through deregulation. Supermarkets join forces to improve economies of scale
