CIAA publishes European food and drink Industry trends

The Confederation of Food and Drink Industries of the EU (CIAA) today released its annual data and trends publication. This year’s Data & trends for the European Food and Drink Industry revealed that the EU is the world’s largest single exporter and importer of food and drink products worldwide, with a trade surplus of E1.1 billion in 2008. Food manufacturers continue to step up reformulation efforts

Despite the financial crisis, the food industry is continuing efforts to help consumers better manage their diets, an independent survey of over 1,500 food and drinks companies commissioned by the CIAA (Confederation of the Food and Drink Industries of the EU) in 5 major European markets has found. Focus on competitiveness of EU food and beverage industry

The European Commission has created a high level group to address issues of competitiveness, innovation and safety in the food and beverage industries.
