Seafood Marathon begins in Sydney

The Sydney Fish Market has opened its doors on their annual 36-hour Seafood Marathon, with Sydneysiders flocking to the market to get their essential Christmas supplies. Sydneysiders are expected to buy, on average, almost 1,000 oysters, 93kg of Snapper and 83kg of prawns every minute. The marathon began at 5am today and concludes at 5pm on Christmas Eve. Workplace Ombudsman to pay a visit to Sydney Fish Markets today as part of focus on food services sector

A dozen Federal workplace inspectors will converge on the Sydney Fish Markets at Pyrmont today to ensure workers are being paid properly. The Federal Workplace Ombudsman advised that employers will be randomly audited as part of its national campaign targeting the food services sector.
