Bega Cheese appoints new CEO

Bega Cheese has announced Paul van Heerwaarden has been appointed as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Paul will be replacing Aidan Coleman who is retiring.

Mr van Heerwaarden is currently Bega’s Chief Operating Officer, and previously held a General Manager of Sales and Marketing role within the dairy company. He has over 25 years’ experience in food and agribusiness and has held senior roles at Tatura Milk, Cargill and Ridley AgriProducts.

Mr van Heerwaarden said he was honoured to be appointed CEO of an iconic Australian company.

“Bega Cheese’ core business is strong, underpinned by long term contracts which provide a solid foundation to expand our customer base and markets,” Mr van Heerwaarden said.

“An early key focus will be on getting more out of our existing plants and infrastructure,” he stated.

Executive Chairman of Bega, Barry Irvin, said Mr van Heerwaaden had extensive experience in agribusiness.

“Paul has been the driving force behind Bega Cheese’s recent growth in dairy foods and nutritionals and proved to be the outstanding candidate for the role of CEO,” Irvin said.

Mr van Heerwaarden will take up his CEO role as of 1 February 2017.
