Cadbury’s marketing boss heads to Kraft: report

Michael Magee, Cadbury Australia’s Director of Marketing, has reportedly resigned to take on a new challenge in a senior marketing role at Kraft.

Kraft Australia’s former Marketing Director, Nikki Anderson, quit in December last year, with Mr Magee expected to take her place as head of marketing.

A Cadbury spokesman told advertising and marketing industry news magazine B&T that Mr Magee left the company last Friday and will be able to begin in his new position at Kraft in May. “Michael has left to go to Kraft,” the spokesman said. “We are undertaking a search to replace him. This is an ongoing search that will take place as we split the confectionery brands from the drinks side of the business.”

Cadbury’s demerger of the confectionery and beverage divisions continues apace as they ready themselves for a possible sale to Asahi. The $1.185 deal is subject to a right of negotiation granted to The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC) in 1999. Under this provision, TCCC has the right until March 2009 to negotiate with Cadbury regarding a potential acquisition of the Schweppes Australia business.
