Cadbury to shut Ringwood distribution centre
Cadbury has announced that it will outsource its Ringwood distribution operations to a third party, with 60 workers set to lose their jobs.
The confectioner said the move had been made because the warehouse at Ringwood is simply unable to deal with the increase in production resulting from efficiency gains at their plants.
“Our factories are now running at a more efficient level and we have more output of products that we’ve had in the past,” Cadbury’s Daniel Ellis said, according to the ABC.”We just simply don’t have the warehousing space or the expertise to run the facility at Ringwood anymore.”
The move is unrelated to the Kraft takeover and follows a major upgrade to their chocolate manufacturing sites in Australia and New Zealand – a plan that was announced in 2008.
