Woman wins $300,000 lawsuit against Coles
A 36-year-old woman hit by a trolley in a Coles store in Sydney five years ago has been awarded damages of close to $300,000. The woman received a permanent back injury as a result of misbehaviour by two male shoppers in the store.
Her lawyer claimed that Coles had breached its duty of care by not protecting her from the misbehaviour of other customers, and the Judge agreed, ordering Coles to pay the woman $298,224 in compensation.
