The Fine Food Australia award winners were announced on Monday night, with Foods Pacific Limited and Rubens Fine Foods sharing the prize for Best New Australian Retail Product.Australia’s largest food industry trade show is in full swing this week, with the food industry showing their wares to international and domestic buyers.

Austrade is confident the show will boost food exports, having brought more than 250 food buyers from over 30 countries to attend. Last year, $32 million worth of export deals were secured from international buyers at the show.

“Australia has a worldwide reputation for producing high quality premium food, and with food exports continuing to perform strongly it is no surprise that the number of international visitors to Fine Food is significant,” Austrade’s National Food and Beverage Manager, Lyndel Jack, said. “Buyers from these countries will be able to discover the clean, natural and healthy products for which Australia is recognised.”

Australian total food exports for 2007-08 were valued at $23.4 billion and accounted for a significant share of Australia’s total goods exports.
