Campbell CEO-designate shakes up exec team
Denise Morrison, the woman set to become CEO of US food group Campbell Soup Co., has shaken up the company’s senior management team.
Morrison is set to move from her role as head of Campbell’s North American soup, sauces and beverage businesses to the job of chief operating officer on Friday (1 October).
The 56-year-old has been appointed COO in preparation for her to replace Doug Conant as chief executive next July. As COO, Morrison will lead all of Campbell’s global businesses and has named a new-look management team to report to her.
Sean Connolly, president of Campbell USA, will succeed Morrison as president of the company’s soup, sauces and beverage businesses in North America.
Mark Alexander, Campbell’s chief customer officer, will become president of the group’s international operations.
Alexander replaces Larry McWilliams, who will become senior vice president for international business development.
Meanwhile, Irene Chang Britt, president of Campbell’s foodservice unit, will become the group’s chief strategy officer.
Carl Johnson, who has been Campbell’s chief strategy officer since 2001, will become senior advisor to the CEO but will retire from the business in April.
Conant, who has been Campbell’s CEO for almost a decade, said Morrison had “assembled an outstanding team of skillful and seasoned executives to partner with her in driving the growth of our businesses”.
