Undeclared soy content prompts recall of Sanitarium rice milk

Sanitarium Health & Wellbeing has recalled a batch of its So Good Rice Milk product nationwide as a precautionary health measure following concerns over the undeclared presence of soy.

The product in question, sold in 1 Litre UHT block packs, has been available for sale in Coles Supermarkets nationally, IGA Supermarkets (WA, VIC, NSW, and QLD) and Franklins (NSW). The rice milk product is also exported by Sanitarium to New Zealand.

In a statement released today, Sanitarium Health & Wellbeing said a production error led to the contamination of one batch with traces of soy, an allergen. The company said that only products with a best before date of 25 Mar 2012 are affected.

Sanitarium Health & Wellbeing advised consumers with an allergy or intolerance to soy to not consume the product. Customers have been advised to return the product to the point of sale for a full refund.

Consumers can call Sanitarium’s toll free number 1800 673 392 for more information.
