Roper River region being tested as Australia’s new ‘super Food Bowl’
A $35 million study has commenced by CSIRO on the possibility to irrigate agriculture in the Roper River region in northern Australia.
“The investigation could transform the Roper River catchment into a super food bowl” said Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack.
“1 million hectares of the catchment area could be suitable for irrigated cropping” he added.
