A small Sydney pizzeria has scooped the national title in the Menulog Restaurant Awards for 2016, after beating more than 8,000 restaurants on Menulog for the top spot.

Menulog is the name of the online food delivery service which has been in operation since 2006.

Winner, Manoosh Pizzeria, is located in Sydney’s inner west suburbs and took out first prize for its baked Lebanese style pizza and its ‘create your own style’ menu options.

Menulog Managing Director, Alistair Venn, said the Menulog Restaurant Awards are a new take on its ‘Tasty Takeaway Awards’.

“The Menulog Restaurant Awards are selected based on a restaurant’s popularity, rating and customer satisfaction – and this year, Australians told us their favourite was Manoosh Pizzeria,” said Venn.

The new awards process meant every restaurant on Menulog had the opportunity to take home a prize, with 250 local restaurants receiving accolades for their specific cuisine type, along with six overall regional winners.

Moving forward, the Menulog Restaurant Awards will be a bi-annual awards program, with the summer awards announced each December and the winter awards announced each July.

State winners show pizza is still the Aussie favourite

In addition to Manoosh Pizzeria, three of the six regional trophies for the 2016 Menulog Restaurant Awards went to Italian eateries confirming pizza as a popular options among Menulog users.

These winners are:

NSW – Doytao Thai, Newtown

VIC – Pepperoni’s, Melbourne

WA – Mondo Fresco, North Perth

QLD – Lummy’s Chinese Restaurant, Mermaid Waters

SA – Cici’s Pizza Kitchen, Hindmarsh

ACT – Chong CO Thai Restaurant and Bar, Belconnen

Menulog is one of several online food delivery services currently operating within Australia. Its competitors include UberEats, Deliveroo and Foodoora.
