Heinz launches new product to ketchup range in US
US food company Heinz today announced the first new flavour from its Heinz Ketchup in nearly a decade, ‘Heinz Ketchup Blended with Balsamic Vinegar’, in the US.
According to Heinz, the new product uses traditional Heinz variety tomatoes and spices but blends it with a tangy balsamic vinegar instead of traditional distilled white vinegar. This provides a “richer, deeper flavour that still maintains the taste of Heinz Ketchup”.
In December 2012, the product was offered on a limited edition basis to Facebook users who “liked” Heinz Ketchup on Facebook in the US.
A statement from Heinz said, “With so much excitement and positive reviews from fans at the initial launch, retailers embraced the limited time offer and sold it from December 2011 to March 2012.”
Heinz Ketchup Blended with Balsamic Vinegar will be available at select retailers in the US. The product comes in a classic 14-ounce glass bottle with a silver cap and a sleek black and silver label. It will be sold at a suggested retail price of US$2.49.
