Plant-based cheese innovation in Australia offers global solution
The ever-increasing demand for vegan and dairy-free food has opened many new markets both globally and in Australia. Indeed, many 21st century businesses have successfully begun exploring the viability of new vegan friendly products. One such success story is Dairy-Free Down Under, which, as at April 2019, has become a large-scale vegan cheese and dip manufacturer in Australia.
The company is now exporting to six countries, following a particularly lucrative and successful trade event during the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Queensland. Dairy-Free Down Under is a company by the Flanagan family based on the Queensland Gold Coast.
The vegan product range of the company includes mozzarella and cheddar style shreds, cheddar-style blocks, mozzarella-style slices, cheddar-style slices, cashew-based non-dairy cream cheese, a cashew range that includes lookalikes for parmesan, aioli, mayonnaise, sour cream and cheese and cracker snack packs.
All products carry claims to be vegan, dairy free and GMO free, and are sourced from numerous non-dairy options that include either almond, cashew, soy or coconut options.
