Nestle to produce health drinks with Boost
Boost Juice has created a range of smoothies which Nestle is set to produce and deliver to UK supermarkets, cafes and convenience stores. The Boost Juice franchise, most popular here in Australia, has only recently expanded into Britain. However, Nestle’s research suggested that the brand resonated with consumers and viewed Boost as an opportunity to continue their push into healthier food and beverage options. There are only eight Boost stores in the UK and with many more in Australia Nestle must be considering to launch the product here in the future.
The Boost smoothies will go on sale in late April.
There’s still plenty of opportunity in the juice market despite nutritionists identifying sweet juices as a causative agent in the growing prevalence of obesity and its complications. One strategy has been to look to wild foods which haven’t been bred to be watery, sweet and low fibre but retain their nutritional density and quality as foods with which we humans have evolved.
One example is http://www.kakadujuice.com/superfoods which tells the story and I’m sure that we’ll soon see a whole lot more unmodified ancient foods entering the juice market. Berri has stepped up to the mark and have a winner on their hands with their rosella and lemon myrtle scented fruit juice drinks and I expect that line extension is also on the cards. And then there’s the herb and spice extract called Herbal-Active which, while promoted as a natural flavour has broad spectrum antimicrobial qualities which allows it to replace the usual chemical preservatives in beverages.
Perhaps it’s time to re-kindle exports from the bush back to the Mother Country, just like the old days.
