The Coca-Cola Company United States has announced it will tackle obesity with the launch of a new campaign.

Its two-minute video, titled “Coming Together,” debuts tonight in US time on national cable news to encourage consumers to be mindful of the calories they consume. The new campaign will be followed by a second video, “Be OK” to be clear about how many calories a Coca-Cola can contains and ‘fun ways’ to burn calories.

Stuart Kronauge, General Manager, Sparkling Beverages, Coca-Cola North America said that the new campaign shows the commitment of the Coca-Cola Company to fighting obesity.

“This is about the health and happiness of everyone who buys our products and wants great-tasting beverages, choice and information. The Coca-Cola Company has an important role in this fight,” Mr Kronauge said.

In addition to the new advertising, Coca-Cola is already helping support and promote physical activity initiatives in local communities in America.

The new advertising comes ahead of moves by New York City expected later this year that will see soft-drink sizes capped at public outlets such as movie theatres and sports games to combat ongoing obesity.
