Pie Face expands into SA convenience store chain ‘On The Run’

Australian pie manufacturer Pie Face has announced it will increase its South Australian presence from July 2014 by expanding into 35 more On The Run (OTR) convenience stores across the state following a successful trial in 12 stores earlier this year.
The range of Pie Face products including premium meat pies, sausage rolls and some iconic OTR favourites will be available in half of the OTR network. The Company said this was the second phase of the relationship between Pie Face and OTR, which began in January 2014 when the companies signed a deal to introduce Pie Face products to South Australians.
“In the few months we have enjoyed our partnership with On The Run, sales of Pie Face products have been very promising,” said Andrew Lyme, Commercial Manager at Pie Face.
“It’s clear there’s an appetite for our pies in the South Australian market and this partnership has allowed us to expand our national presence by offering South Australians our premium hand-crafted pies, in the OTR locations that are convenient, appealing and familiar,” Mr Lyme said.
To date, the Company said the bestsellers from the Pie Face range in OTR stores included the Steak, Bacon & Cheese, Chunky Steak and Chicken & Mushroom pies.
“Besides the delicious taste using traditional French pastry baking techniques, our customers like that each face is hand crafted and no two faces are the same, just like our customers,” said Michaela Webster, General Manager at OTR.
Pie Face launched in Sydney in 2003 and now has 89 stores across Australia, the United States and New Zealand, with plans for expansion into the Middle East, Malaysia and Singapore. The Company offers premium handmade sweet and savoury pies, pastries, cakes, muffins, coffee and other lunch options. Products made in the Pie Face Central Kitchen are distributed to stores where they are baked fresh for customers 24 hours per day.
